Generalized Anxiety Disorder: Key Componenets

•Excessive anxiety and worry:more days than not, at least 6mo, across several events/activities
•The key component is worry. they're continually tense, anxious, and have an arousal of the autonomic nervous system •Difficulty controlling the worry. |

At least 3 or more: •Restlessness •Easily fatigued •Difficulty concentrating/ mind going blank •High levels of irritability •Muscle tension •Sleep Disturbance(Difficulty falling/staying asleep •Causes significant distress or impairment •Not attributed to substance/medical condition •Not better explained by another disorder (only in social situations/phobias) |

Panic Disorder: Key Components
|
•Recurrent unexpected panic attacks (one does not constitute a disorder and you can have a panic attack in other disorders, but that doesn't mean panic disorder)
•At least one attack has been followed by at least one month of: o Persistent worry or concern about additional panic attacks or their consequences o A change in behavior related to the attacks. •Not attributable to a substance or medical condition •Not better explained by another disorder. |

• An abrupt surge of intense fear or discomfort
4 or more following symptoms •Palpitations, pounding heart, or accelerated heart rate •Sweating •Trembling or shaking •Sensations of shortness of breath / smothering •Feelings of choking •Chest pain/discomfort •Nausea or abdominal distress •Dizzy, unsteady, light-headed or faint •Chills/heat sensations •Paresthesias (pins and needles) •Derealization •Fear of losing control / “going crazy •Fear of dying |

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: Key Components

Intrusive thoughts or obsessives and repetitive acts
Includes: Hording, trichotillomania, skin picking disorder Obsessions: Recurrent and persistent thoughts, impulses, or images that are deemed intrusive and inappropriate and lead to distress. Contamination is the most common obsession Compulsions: repetitive behaviors (such as checking) that are performed in response to obsessions and according to rigid rules. |
