SIDE EFFECTS


1. Dizziness, Fatigue & Tremor


2. Drowsiness, weight gain


3. HA, Hepatotoxicity with Valproic Acid & Carbamazepine


4. Nausea, Rash especially with Lamotrigine


5. Vomiting & G I Upset

TEACHING

1. Notify doctor if pregnant or breast feeding baby.


2. Advise not to stop medication abruptly.


3. Be cautious driving or operating heavy machinery especially while medication is being adjusted

TEACHING

As medication stabilizes the mood swings, the chance for a successful suicide attempt


increases.


Monitor Valproic Acid & Carbamazepine serum levels for toxicity.


Don't stop med, seizures may occur, IF taking med for seizures

2. Lactation.


3. Glaucoma.


4. Liver disease.
