5 Cards in this Set

radial nerve

- passes out of radial groove bw lateral head of triceps and brachialis. it then innervates brachioradialis and extensor carpi radialis longus

- it then ends up in cubital fossa and divides into a superficial and deep radial nerve

-superficial radial nerve- passes bw brachiradialis and pronator teres. goes under brachioradialis and becomes cutaneous to the back of the first web space

-deep radial nerve- innervates supinator and then goes into posterior compartment of forearm

ulnar nerve

- off medial cord

- thru arm, innervating nothing

- passes bw medial epicondyle and olecranon

- innervates flexor carpi ulnaris'- sends a branch to innervate ulnar 1/2 of flexor digitorum profundus

- proximal to wrist sends dorsal cutaneous branch to ulnar side of back of hand

- proximal to wrist sends palmar cutaneous branch to ulnar side of palm of hand

- crosses wrist and passes thru Guyon's canal bw pisiform and hook of hamate

median nerve

- passes into middle of the cubital fossa

- under bicipital aponeurosis

- between the 2 heads and innervates pronator teres

- between the 2nd and 3rd layers of anterior forearm

- innervates flexor carpi radialis, palmaris longus, and flexor digitorum superficialis

- sends off one branch- anterior interosseus nerve , that innervates radial 1/2 of flexor digitorum profundus, flexor pollicis longus, and pronator quadratus

- median nerve crosses wrist under tendon of palmaris longus

- enteres into most superficial part of carpal tunnel

radial artery

- off brachial artery

- passes to radial side of forearm bw brachioradialis and pronator teres w the radial nerve

- passes to the distal anterior surface of the radius (where u take ur pulse)

- @ this point, it has one branch, the superficial palmar branch. it passes through the thenar compartment of the palm and passes to the dorsum of the hand

ulnar artery

off brachial artery

- passes under the pronator teres and flexor digitorum superficialis

- passes bw flexor digitorum superficialis and flexor digitorum profundus

- @ this point, has 2 branches:

1. anterior interosseous artery

- travels on anterior surface of interosseous membrane w the anterior interosseous nerve

2. posterior interosseous artery

- passes thru interosseous membrane into posterior compartment

- ulnary artery continues distally in forearm and joints ulnar nerve about mid-forearm

- proximal to wrist it will have one branch- dorsal carpal branch of the ulnar artery (which goes into the back of the hand)

- ulnar artery passes into Guyon's canal w ulnar nerve

- radial and ulnar artery combine in the hand
