- blood group and Rhesus factor - antibody titre, rubella immunity and Hep B status - syphilis and HIV (optional) - gestational diabetes - haemoglobin |

- performed within first 16 weeks - anatomy scan and nuchal translucency scan |

Measures the subcutaneous space between the skin and spine of the foetus = detects Down’s syndrome |

What is amniocentesis? |
Small sample of amniotic fluid is withdrawn via a needle and sent for testing (not performed until after the 15th week) Tests for neural tube defects USS done before hand to locate the uterus |
