Redness (arterioles)
wheal (venules)
Flare (nerves, h1 acts on nerves, this causes itching and such)
Why would we inject someone with Histamine?
For diagnostic purposes, for Asthma, for GI disorders, most often not because of the heavy side effects though. Inject intradermal HIstamine Phosphate.
What are the peripheral effects of a Histamine 1 antagonist? There are lots
Block GI secretions, inhibit vasodilation, inhibit increased vascular permiability, inhibit severe anaphylactoid reactions.
H1 antagonists effects not related to actual h1 blockage...
due mainly to blockage of anti muscarinic effects. Anti nausea (
best if ised prophylactically) anti emetic, sleep agent (think benedryl)
