Villa |
An aristocrats large house, split into 3 parts. The Pars Urbana was where the owner and his/her family lived. Pars Rustica was where the chefs, slaves and barn animals lived. Villa Fructuaria was where the storage rooms were; to store away products of the farm. A villa usually
suggests agriculture. |

Insulae |
They were apartments, with 1 - 2 rooms, generally featuring 5 -7 stories. It was built around a courtyard, which was used for cooking, cleaning and talking with others. Insulae were made of mud brick andimber and approximately 40 people occupied this estate. The top floors were unwanted and expensive as there were no toilets, water or heating. |
