There weren't a lot of slaves in India because slaves were very expensive and usually they were owned by Brahman (priests). |

They were below slavery in India. They aren't in the caste system. They were treated poorly--worse jobs like removing human sewage, etc. Nicknamed: "Untouchable" because you didn't want to touch one. Today they are called "Dalit". |

Women in India |
India women had fair amount of power, but gradually that power has dropped through the years. Now they are considered accessory to their husband. Practice: Sati (privilege only Brahman women had this). Your husband dies and if you are a good widow you are suppose to burn yourself alive at your husband's recarnation funeral. |
