Greek mainland is a mountainous peninsula


This results in many things:


-they had to farm on narrow fertile Plains along the coast and in between mountains


- because they didn’t have a lot of fertile land they traded goods and ideas between islands and along coastline increasing technology


-communities in Greece were separated by mountains in valleys this lead to each community being fiercely independent
