produces offspring

Homeostasis

the body's ability to maintain stable internal conditions despite a changing outside world. The body demonstrates homeostasis when its needs are being met. Every organ system plays a role in this.

Elements of homeostasis

1. stimulus (produced change in variable)

2. change is detected by receptor (input of information)

3. receptor sends information sent along to the control center

4. information is sent to the effector

5. response of effector feeds back to influence magnitude of stimulus and returns variable to homeostasis
