Functions of the Pharynx? |
Muscles help with swallowing. Aids hearing. Warms air. Moistens air. Lymphoid tissue produces antibodies. Passageway for food and air. Eustachian tube equalises air pressure. |

What are Alveoli and what do they do? |
Are air sacs at the end of respiratory tree, surrounded by capillaries. Aids diffusion of Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide. Contains Macrophages (white blood cells). Allows gaseous exchange. |

What are the lobes of the lungs? |
Right Lung - Superior, Middle, Inferior.
Left Lung - Superior, Inferior. |

Pleura Membranes surround the lungs - what are the 3 layers? |
Visceral Pleura - Inner layer.
Pleural Cavity - Middle layer. Contains Pleural Fluid.
Parietal Layer - Outside layer. |
