What is the Autonomic nervous system?

"self-governing", conveys information from autonomic sensory receptors to interoceptors and monitor the internal environment - stretch and blood chemicals.
Influenced by an emotional state, regulates functions such as those of the heart. includes smooth muscle, cardiac muscle and many glands. |

1. Acetocoline (ACh)
2. Norepinephrin (NE) They respond to the same chemical but depends on specilization of the effector organ - determined by receptor "type" on the organ ("same key, different lock" principle). |
