Mitochondria

Mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell and contain enzymes headed for aerobic respiration. The inner membrane of the mitochondrion is folded into cristae which hold the enzymes needed in energy transformations to make ATP.

Lysosomes

Lysosomes are "garbage disposals", they break up old cell components and bacteria.

Peroxisomes

Peroxisomes contain enzymes that function in the synthesis of bile acids, breakdown lipids and rare biochemicals, and detoxification of alcohol.
