Dr. Joseph Warren notices unusual activity from the British army. He noticed that the army was marching out of Boston. Warren notified Paul Revere, William Dawes, and Dr. Samuel Prescott. They rode out of Lexington to warn Samuel Adams and John Hancock.

75 minutemen met the British regiment at Lexington. Shots were soon fired and eight minutemen died. Many people state this was the beginning of the American Revolution. Why do people feel this way?

For the time Americans have fired at British Troops. Messengers on horseback had spread word of the British movements. All along the road from the CONCORD to Boston, farmers, blacksmiths, saddle makers and clerk hid behind trees, rocks, and stone fences. As the British marched down the road the militia fired.

The British Army soon realized that they had to strengthen their position because anti-British feelings were increasing by the second. They made a plan to seize and fortify Dorchester Heights and Charlestown peninsulas. Why do you think this was important?

They were important because they offered a commanding view of the seaports and harbor.
