the 2nd great awakening was a time when many came to christ and others became more active in church and sought to bring people to christ. the revivals started on college campuses in the east. timothy dwight became the new president of Yale and brought doctrinal truth and teaching book to the campus.Evangelists such as Asahel Nettleton preached the truth of Gods word to many churches the East. however, some preachers such as Charles Finney, became more interested in result than in standing for the truth of Gods words. the revival also spread to the west where many camp meetings were held. some were truly converted , while others just made emotional decisions. finally, the revivals also lessened inappropriate behavior, including drunkenness, fornication, and adultery. |
