Democracy
Government by the people.
Direct Democracy
All or most citizens make decisions by themselves. "Town meetings"
Representative Democracy
Voters do not make decisions themselves, the choose leaders. Also called a "Republic".
Republic
Same as Representative Democracy.
Politics
The management of conflict over who shall rule and what policies shall be made.
Recall
The right to remove an elected official from office.
Declaration of Independence
A statement adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, which announced that the thirteen American colonies then at war with Great Britain were now independent states, and thus no longer a part of the British Empire.
