treaty of the Louisiana Purchase (1803)

United States purchased 828,000 square miles of land west of the Mississippi River for $15 million. but it was formed as a treaty because the president cannot purchase land.... all land from this point of added to the u.s. it gained by a treaty, compromise or war. (Thomas Jefferson)

Rush-Bagot Agreement(1818)

A treaty between The United States and Britain stateshow many ships from both countries could be stationed in the great lakes on Theborder in the north between Canada and the United States. This was brought updue to the naval forces stationed in the great lakes of both powers from theWar of 1812.

Adams-Onis treaty (1819)

it’s also known as the transcontinental treaty of1819, it was a treaty between the United States and Spain where Spain gaveFlorida to the U.S. And surrendered all claims to the Pacific Northwest, andagreed to a boundary between the Louisiana Purchase territory and the SpanishSouthwest. With the gain of the Louisiana Territory, the U.S. almost doubled insize, and also ended a border dispute between the United States and Spain.Spain was forced to give up the territory as a result off the Napoleonic wars thathad terrorized Europe.

Texas Annexation (1845)

the 1845 incorporation of the Republic of Texas into the United States of America, which was admitted to the Union as the 28th state on December 29, 1845. The Republic of Texas declared independence from the Republic of Mexico on March 2, 1836.

Oregon Trail

afterobtaining the Oregon territory, white settlers created annual parties thattraveled back along the trail to help other struggling parties make their wayto the settlement. Many pioneers traveled on the trail to get to their familiesthat had traveled to the territory before them. This trail helped survival toOregon, which in 1859, had a large enough population to become a state of theUnites States.

Santa Fe trail

a trail that led to California that asestablished in 1821. Many Americans sought out further westward expansion intothe Louisiana purchase in order to trade with Mexicans. The trail led to themapping and plotting of the west which allowed sectioning land to sell all theway to the Pacific Ocean, based on the Land Ordinance of 1785. This led to theremoval of Indian tribes which could cause similar conflicts with the Indianslike the Pan-Indian Military Resistance movement, led by an Indian warriornamed Tecumseh.

Oregon Treaty of 1846

This agreement set the boundary between the United States and Canada at the 49th parallel west of the Rocky Mountains, veering around Vancouver Island and then proceeding through the Strait of San Juan de Fuca.

Mexican- American war

it was a war between the united states andMexico during the 1846 and 1848 over control over the south western territory.The war was provoked over Border Disputed in Texas. The U.S. claimed the landnorth of the Rio Grande river, so once Texas reached statehood the Mexicangovernment ended their diplomatic relations with the U.S. to prevent Texasbecoming a state. Polk offered $30 million of the land but the Mexicangovernment refused and this made Polk angry, so he sent troops to defend theborder. Fighting began and Polk claimed war because the Mexicans startedfighting on American soil. By the end of the war the Unites States added 1.5million acres of territory. HY��Z�$~�

Treaty of Guadalupe Hildalgo(1848)

signed on February 2nd ,1848. Itended the Mexican- American war and it stated that Mexico will give the UnitedStates 500,000 square miles of land, that included: California, Nevada, Utah,Arizona and New Mexico along with parts of Wyoming and Colorado. The UnitedStates agreed to pay $15,000,000 for this land. This treaty led to Mexicanlanguage, traditions, and culture to spread throughout the United States. Polk c��Z�;~�

Treaty of the Gadsden Purchase (1853)

JamesGadsden, an American diplomat, negotiated for the purchase of New Mexico andArizona for $ 10 million dollars with Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna. Congressaccepted a modified version of the purchase that was a significantly smaller area.Southerners hope to use this land as a transcontinental railroad linking thewest coast to the south.
