US Skiing and National Governing Bodies
The National Governing Body for skiing in the US has taken the most bold steps in including athletes with disabilities by outfitting an entire National Team that is afforded the same benefits of the able-bodied U.S. Skiing Team.
Other NGB’s have following suit and have sub-groups of disabled teams, still, some have done nothing to accommodate these athletes.
Ways to avoid litigation
ALL rules committees should continually review their rules to make sure they do not discriminate against any individuals
Examine to determine what, if any, accommodations need to be made to allow individual with disabilities to compete as close to normal as possible and without putting non-disabled at an unfair disadvantage
ALL rules committees should review their rules annually to find new ways to accommodate individuals with disabilities and make sure they are not discriminating unnecessarily
