Where are your Security Post Orders located?

On each applicable post know the exact location of your post order. Always check when assuming duty to make sure your post orders is present and that you have signed it. Ensure that you have read and signed the post orders on every post you work.

A)You should have no unlabeled containers.


B)Know caustics are only stored in the caustics distribution point located in the support building.


C)Caustic log is maintained at the distribution point.


D)Caustics are picked up each day at the central caustic room where the officer in charge of the central caustic area has already diluted each item issued.


E)Use of caustic is supervised by staff.


F)All unused caustics will be returned to the caustic room daily.


Explain the primary procedure for evacuating inmates from a secured area. In the event, the primary means fails, what backup system do you have?

Refer to the emergency fire plans and postorder.


A)The primary means to evacuate will be to use the electronic panel in the officers station.


B)In the event the electronic system is inoperable, you will use the notched keys and manually open the doors to release the inmates.


C) You will then check your area to ensure all inmate / staff are out of the building and secure your area.


D) You will ensure your inmates report to the designated area and you will county inmate to ensure all are present.

Do you have a CPR card? How often do you receive training and CPR?

Know that CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. And explain to the auditors that we no longer issue CPR cards anymore, training records are available at our training office. Refresher training every year

Explain the procedures for dispensing over the counter medication

What over-the-counter medications are you allowed to issue?

Tylenol, ibuprofen, alamag, Thorets.

How often is over the counter medication inventory?

At the beginning and end of each shift.

How do you dispense over the counter medication to an inmate?

medication is given out to an inmate upon request, checking to make sure that he does not exceed the recommended dosage. The medication is issued to the inmate after:


A)Inmates name, bunk, DC number, time and inmates signature is entered on the medication log


B)you must also ensure that the amount issued, and ending balance is entered.


C)The officer will initial the law and check to ensure that the frequency has been verified


Do you have any written procedures on over the counter medication?

Written policy is located with the log books

If you find a seal broken on a first aid kit, what would you?

Reported to the supervisor, complete a DC6-210 - incident report, and take the first aid kit to medical.

What are your procedures for a true medical emergency (injury, seizure, etc)?

Notify the control room by utilizing the ICS drill, the control room will notify the medical department, nurses station extension, main unit 81496. Advise them of your location and give a brief account of the situation. Stay on line until medical staff gets all information needed.

Who is the first responder in the medical emergency?

first staff member on scene. All staff are trained in CPR and first aid. Staff will provide the needed first aid until medical arrives

When calling medical to report a medical emergency, what information should you be prepared to give?

Location, your name, inmates name and DC number, if known any information concerning an illness / injury.

What are the procedures for a declared medical emergency?

Give the inmate immediate access to medical. Advise medical that be inmate is en-route.

What action do you take when an inmate approaches you and ask for medical treatment that is not an emergency?

Advise him of routine sick call procedures.

What are the institutions regular sick call hours?

Inmates sign up for sick with a request for sick call, drop boxes are located in the front of F dormitory- inmates will be on call out for the next morning.

How would you handle a psychological emergency?

Call medical immediately, inmate should be seen by a psychologist within one hour.

Do you have the authority to deny an inmate any type of medical treatment?

If an inmate and / or staff are injured in an accident, what is required?

Notify the control room, and immediately be checked by medical personnel, and then submit DC 6 - 210 incident report, and if you are a staff member injured report it to your shift supervisor / supervisor who will then contact health and safety Sergeant to fill out a first report of injury.

What do you do if you are injured on the job?

notify your supervisor, if you need immediate medical attention report to the on-duty medical staff for treatment and / or stabilisation. If injuries are such that you can, you will report to the local doctor or hospital for treatment. You will be required to complete an incident report, detailing how you were injured. Report of injury and a first report of injury must be filled out as soon as possible. Follow all instructions given by your supervisor and personnel for follow-up or continue treatment.

What would you do if an inmate reports to you that he has been abused by a staff member, allegation of staff abuse?

notifying your supervisor immediately, ensure that the inmate receives a medical evaluation, advise medical staff that this is a physical involving alleged staff abuse, complete an incident report with notification to the institutional inspector.

In the event of an inmate's death in your assigned area, what would you do?

refer to Florida administrative code chapter 33 - 602.112 inmate death, immediately notify the control room and shift supervisor, secure the immediate area from any movement. Await further instructions from your supervisor.
