Keller plays this game with the children from the neighborhood. He is a detective and the children are policeman. Keller plays this game because he has to get relief from the memories of his imprisonment. He is prevented from sharing his experience with the adults, as he pretends to be innocent and not to be hurt

She dreamt that he was flying low past the house. She heard his crying and wanted to save him but she couldn’t. So, in her subconsciousness mind she knew that Larry is not alive and will never come back.

(Kate-Chris) She thought it was too soon to plant the memorial tree. We infer that Kate was against it, as she believed he was alive.

(Chris-Kate) Chris means that since Larry was reported missing, everything had stood still, they have been living in the past and don’t move on.
