19 March 1945- Hitler ordered destruction of all German infrastructure as the Allied powers approached. Speer disagreed with the policy and greatly minimised damage by using his authority to circumvent Hitler's orders as best as possible. Such actions were treasonous offences and came with severe punishments. |

No. It has been argued that he was unaware, however this has been rebuked as evidence has come forward suggesting Speer was aware and had even been present at meeting where the 'final solution' of the Jews was discussed. |

He admitted collective guilt for the actions of the Nazi Party. "There is a shared responsibility for such horrible crimes, even in an authoritarian state." However, he denied guilt of specific details claiming "This collective responsibility can only apply to fundamental matters and not the details." |

Helped build our understanding of the Nazi party and provided a unique inside perspective. Worked with publisher Siedler and historian Fest to produce his memoirs 'Inside the Third Reich'. However, in the memoirs, terrible events such as Kristallnacht were played down and the holocaust failed to be mentioned. |
