Polycentric

In 1981, the U.S. Department of Transportation recommended that metropolitan regions be developed into a series of centers to provide focal points for regional and subregional transit service. This concept was called polycentric. Since this was recommended, dozens of cities have used this concept, including Toronto, Los Angeles, and Chicago.

Artesian well



An artesian well can be defined as a vertical bore hole in which a pipe-like structure is inserted into the ground. This structure withdraws water from a confined aquifer (artesian aquifer).
