What is the AHA BLS Algorithm for?
BLS for someone that is not moving or responsive?
What are the steps in the AHA BLS Algorithm?
1. Check for movement and/or responsiveness
2. If not moving and/or responsive, call 911 and get AED
3. Open airway and check breathing
4. If not breathing, give two breaths
5. If no change after giving two breaths, check pulse
5A. If they have a pulse, give one breath every five to six seconds, and recheck pulse every two minutes
6. If no pulse, give thirty compressions (Hard and fast @ 100/min with little or no interruptions) and two breaths until AED gets there, ALS arrives, and/or patient starts to move
7. AED/defibrillator gets there
8. Check heart rhythm
9. If shockable, give one shock and resume CPR for five cycles
10. If not shockable, resume CPR for five cycles. Check rhythm every five cycles (Which is about every two minutes?), and continue CPR until ALS arrives or patient starts to move
What is step one in the AHA BLS Algorithm?
Check for movement and/or responsiveness
What is step two in the AHA BLS Algorithm?
If no movement and/or unresponsive, call 911 and get AED
What is step three in the AHA BLS Algorithm?
Open airway, and check breathing
What is step four in the AHA BLS Algorithm?
If not breathing, give two breaths
What is step five in the AHA BLS Algorithm?
If no change after giving two breaths, check pulse

OR

If pulse, give one breath every five to six seconds, and recheck pulse every two minutes
What is step six in the AHA BLS Algorithm?
If no pulse, give thirty compressions and two breaths until AED gets there and/or ALS arrives and/or patient starts to move (Hard and fast,100/min, with little or no interruptions)
What is step seven in the AHA BLS Algorithm?
AED/defibrillator gets there
What is step eight in the AHA BLS Algorithm?
Check heart rhythm
What is step nine in the AHA BLS Algorithm?
If shockable, give one shock and resume CPR for five cycles
What is step ten in the AHA BLS Algorithm?
If rhythm not shockable, resume CPR for five cycles. Check rhythm every five cycles, and continue CPR until ALS arrives and/or patient starts to move
