What do you do if you come across a collapsed person? |

1. Shout for help 2. Carefully turn patient to their back 3. Open airway - head tilt/chin lift 4. Check for breathing |

What are the steps for assessing breathing? |
1. Look for chest movements 2. Listen for breath sounds 3. Feel for expired air 4. Assess for 10 seconds 5. If in doubt act as if patient is not breathing |

What do you do if the victim is breathing? |
1. If safe put into recovery position 2. Telephone for help 3. Reassess at regular intervals |

If the victim isn't breathing? |
1. Call for help 2. Start Chest Compressions |

How do you apply chest compressions? |
1. Kneel at side of casualty 2. Place heel of one hand in centre of casualties chest 3. Place heel of 2nd hand on top of first 4. Interlock and raise fingers to stop pressure on ribs 5. Position yourself vertically over casualties chest, arms straight 6. Press down 5 - 6cm then release 7. At a rate of 100-120bpm 8. Compression and release should be equal in time 9. After 30 compressions give 2 rescue breaths |
