What is the first sign of puberty in girls? First sign in boys? and when?
Girls: growth spurt, begins at 9yo and peaks between 11.5 and 12yo

Boys: first sign is scrotal and testicular growth, begins at 10-12 years of age

5. Ovarian: Includes primary ovarian failure, PCOS
6. Endocrine: virilization disorders (CAH, Cushings Sy)
7. Physiologic delay of puberty

Chromosomal anomalies associated with amenorrhea

1. complete androgen insensitivity syndrome (46 XY)
Defect: testosterone resistance 2/2 an androgen receptor defect.

Anatomy: phenotypic female; testes are present; no upper tract female structure; THELARCHE BUT NOT ADRENARCH at puberty

Labs/Tx: High serum testosterone. Pelvic ultrasound shows absence of upper vagina, uterus, and fallopian tubes. Excise testes dt increased testicular cancer risk.
