Battle of Coral Sea
7-8 May 1942:

First Step by Japanese to Invade Australia. May 8th, planes were sent from both sides, unseen by each other. First Carrier vs Carrier battle. Lexington was sunk; Yorktown was damaged. Though tactical loss, it was a strategic victory- Japanese never tried invading Australia again.

3-5 June 1942:

Turning point of the Pacific War. Commander-in-Chief Yamamoto split his armada of 160 warships in half for a diversionary attack. The U.S., breaking the Japanese code, heard of the attack and using 3 carriers stationed out of range: Yorktown, Hornet, and Enterprice, attacked the undefended Carriers as they had sent planes away.

13-15 Nov 1942:

Five brothers were allowed to serve on the same ship. As their ship, USS Juneau, retreated for repairs from the 3 day battle, it was torpedoed. All, including the brothers died. A ship was named after them and again, Navy family separation policy was reinstated.
