Endogenous nucleoside, misc. antidysrhythmic
Description?
Slows supracentricular tachycardia by decreasing electrical conduction through the AV node without causing negative inotropic effects.
What does it act directly on?
Sinus Pacemaker cells and vagal nerve terminals to decrease chronotropic (heart rate) activity.
What is it the drug of choice for?
PSVT and can be used diagnostically for stable, wide complex tachycardias of unknows type following 2 doses of Lidocaine.
Onset and Duration?
Onset: Immediate
Duration: 10 sec
Indications?
First drug for most forms of narrow complex PSVT in adults and Pedis
Contraindication?
2nd or 3rd degree AV block or sick snus syndrome
Hypersensitivity
Atrail Flutter, AFIB, VTAC
Adverse Reactions?
light headness,
paresthesias,
headache, sweating, palpaitations, CHEST PAIN, flushing, hypotension, shortness of breath, **transcient periods of bradycardia, sinus pause, or bradyasystole
Ventricular ectopy (fibrillation, flutter, tachy, torsades

How Supplied?
Parenteral IV
3mg/mL in 2mL and 5mL flip top vials
Dosages for Adults
Intiail dose: 6mg rapid IV bolus over 1-3 sec followed by 20mL fluse elevate extremity

Repeat dose: if no response is observed after 1-2 min 12mg same way may only repeat once.
