Dopamine - A1 variant of the gene means less dopamine so they have less natural stimulation. Activation of the mesolimbic pathway giving a powerful memory.
Initiation - triggers dopamine and tells the brain to do it again. Maintenance - decrease in reward circuit = stress and withdrawal. Uses drugs to avoid unpleasant symptoms Relapse - difficult to resist cravings |
