A way of looking at things that include every person and every place on earth.

|
An important member of a worldwide community. This gives you the right to have a say in how the world works and the responsibility to make a change for the better. It also means that you are connected with people all across the world. To be a responsible you have to have curiosity (keep an open mind), common sense (don't believe everything you read or hear about people or places), and take action (if you think there is a problem, find out ways that you can solve it and make a change in the world).

The world as a single community linked together by communication and technology. Some of the pros of this concept are health and education, and some of the cons are pollution and poverty.

Technologies
|
The global village is possible because of technology developed during the twentieth century. Technology such as Internet, telephones, and texting make it easier for people to communicate with people over great distances.

Culture
|
Your culture is your way of life. There are many diverse cultures in the world.

Government
|
Each country has its own government that makes it laws and helps people meet their needs and wants.

Environment
|
The environment is the physical world we live in-land, water, and air. It is the source of everything we need to live.

Economy
|
The economic systems are the ways we exchange the natural and human-made recourses we want and need.

Rights
|
The things that are fair for you to have or be able to do.

Responsibilities
|
The the things you should do in order to be fair to others.

United Nations
|
An intergovernmental organization established on October 24, 1945 to promote international cooperation. Countries who join the UN agree to work toward certain goals. The UN has three goals to work towards to prevent wars:
•make sure that basic human rights are respected •help people from different cultures understand each other •work together to solve problems The UN symbol is the world seen from the North Pole, surrounded by olive branches, the Greek symbol for peace. Their headquarters is in New York City. Members of the UN must follow certain rules or else they may be expelled. The tules are written legally in the UN charter. Here are some examples: •treat everyone equally •no fighting •no bullying •work towards goals |

UNICEF
|
The United Nation's Children's Fund helps to protect the rights of children. UNICEF has many different projects for what certain communities want and need. When communities are in need of help, UNICEF helps by sending supplies like food and blankets. UNICEF helps people notice the value in all cultures

Convention on the Rights of the Child
|
The UNCRC is a human rights treaty which sets out the civil, political, economic, social, health, and cultural rights of children.
•The right to survive (food, water, shelter, and clothing to meet your needs and medical services) •The right to learn and enjoy life (an education and freedom to practice your culture) •The right to live in a safe world (a clean environment and special care during times of war and not being used as soldiers or hostages. •The right to be heard (a name and a nationality, and have people listen to your opinions) |

The Declaration of Human Rights (UNDHR)

In 1948 the UN wrote the declaration of Human Rights. This states the rights and responsibilities that all people should have.
Everyone has the right to: -freedom and safety -fairness and equality -basic needs (food, water, shelter, clothing) -education -government -follow their beliefs |
