What is the use of IO.SYS?
The First Boot File, known as bootstrap loader. Loads basic Hardware devices such as keyboard and floppy drive. Required.
What is the use of MSDOS.SYS?
Second boot file. The MS-DOS Kernel (only text in later versions), it initializes hardware resources. Required. Must be 1024 Bytes.
What is the use of COMMAND.COM?
Fourth boot file. DOS command interpreter. Required.
What is the use of CONFIG.SYS?
Third boot file. Special text file with configuration information used to load device drivers. Not Required.
