What are moon phases?
Phases are different shapes in which the moon appears.
Why does the moon appear to change its shape?
The moon does not produce light.
The moon can reflect sunlight, but the sun only lights up 1/2 of the moon at a time. We see different amounts of the part that is lit, thus the moon appears in different shapes or phases. |
How long does it take the moon to complete a set of phases?
29.5 days
