Poetry

is a form of literary expression that captures intense experiences or creative perceptions of the world in a musical language.

Prose

is the ordinary language people use in speaking or writing - has a narrator

is a group of lines forming a unit. In a poem these are separated by a space.

the emotional and imaginative association surrounding a word

Denotation

the strict dictionary meaning of a word

Diction

the choice of words by an author or poet

Mood

the feeling or atmosphere that an author creates

Tone

a reflection of the author's attitude toward the subject of a poem/story
