Simile is a figure of speech that expresses a resemblance between things of different kinds. Usually linked with LIKE or AS

Personification is giving human like characteristics to non-living things.

Hyperbole
Hyperbole is a figure of speech which is an exaggeration.

Examples: He nearly died laughing. She talked a hundred words per second.
Alliteration
Alliteration: The repetition of the same consonant sound at the beginning of two or more words.

Examples: Waves want to be wheels.
Metaphor
A metaphor links two objects together, NOT using "like" or "as" - usually leaves more to the imagination.
