A Terminating Decimal that stops. Example (0.5)

Repeating Decimal:

A Repeating Decimal repeats without ending. Example (0.88888)

Opposite:

Opposites are numbers that are both the same distance from 0 but are in opposite directions. Example (17 & -17)

Inverse Operation:

Inverse Operations are operations that undo each other. Example (Addition & Subtraction)

Absolute Value:

The magnitude of a real number without regard to its sign.

Simplify:

To make something easier or better to understand. Example (3/6 to 1/2)

Evaluate:

To figure out the equation.

Substitute:

To use or add in place of.

Coordinate:

To find or figure our where a a pair of coordinates are on a coordinate graph.

Origin:

The origin is the point of intersection of the x- and y- axes in a coordinate plane.

Proportion:

A proportion is an equation stating that two ratios are equal.

Conversion:

Is the exchange from one unit of measure to another.

Integers:

Integers are the set of positive whole numbers, their opposites, and 0. Example (-3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3)

Rational Numbers:

A rational number is a number that can be written as a quotient of two integers, where the divisor is not 0.

Base:

The number of different digits or combination of digits and letters that a system of counting uses to represent numbers.

Power:

Is the product of multiplying a number by itself. Example (Exponents).

Algebraic Expression:

A phrase or expression that can contain ordinary numbers. Example (Variables)

Coefficient:

A constant placed before multiplying the variable in an algebraic expression. Example (4x- 7 = 5)

Like Terms:

Terms that contain the same variables raised to the same power. We combined them to make algebraic expressions simpler.

Variable:

A variable is a letter that is used in place of a number. (4x + 10 = 30)

Inequality:

A inequality is like an equation that uses symbols (greater than <) or (less than >). Example (9 > 10)

Ratio:

A ratio is a comparison between 2 different numbers. ( 3 : 4)

Equivalent Ratios:

Two ratios that name the same number are equivalent ratios. Equivalent ratios written as fractions are equivalent fractions. (4:7) & (8:14).

Rate:

A rate is a special ratio in which 2 terms are in different units.

Unit Rate:

The rate for one unit of a given quantity is called the unit rate.

Unit Cost:

A unit rate that gives the cost per unit is a unit cost.

Cross Product:

For two ratios, the cross products are found by multiplying the denominator of one ratio by the numerator of the other ratio.
