Terminating Decimal:

A terminating decimal is a decimal that stops or terminates.

Repeating Decimal:

A repeating decimal is a decimal that repeats without end. The repeating block can be one or more digits.

Opposite:

Opposites are two numbers that are the same distance from zero on a number line but in the opposite directions

Inverse Operation:

Inverse Operations are operations that undo each other

Absolute Value:

is the distance on a number line between two numbers

Simplify:

to reduced

Evaluate:

simplify the expression to the actual answer.

Substitute:

A replacement and equivalent.

Coordinate:

to find a number on a number line

Origin:

the point of intersection of the X- and Y- axes in a coordinate plane.

Proportion:

is simply a statement that two ratios are equal. It can be written in two ways: as two equal fractions a/b = c/d;

Conversion:

to obtain an equivalent value for in an exchange or calculation, as money or units of measurements.

Integers:

Integers are the set of positive whole numbers their opposites and zero

Rational Numbers:

Fractions that can be reduced, mixed numbers, improper fractions, repeating decimals, terminating decimals even integers and whole numbers

Base:

The number that is going to be raised to a power.

Power:

The power of a number says how many times to use the number in a mulitplication

Algebraic Expression:

When addition or subtraction signs (- & + ) separate an expressions in parts.

Coefficient:

A number used to multiply a variable.Example: 6z means 6 times z, and "z" is a variable, so 6 is a coefficient

Like Terms:

Terms with the exact same variables or variables raised to the same power.

Variable:

A variable is a quantity that may change within the context of a mathematical problem or experiment.

Inequality:

An inequality is like an equation that uses symbols for "less than"(<) and "greater than"(>)

Ratio:

A ratio shows the relative sizes of two or more values.Ratios can be shown in different ways. Using the ":" to separate example values, or as a single number by dividing one value by the total.Example: if there is 1 boy and 3 girls you could write the ratio as:1:3 for every one boy there are 3 girls

Equivalent Ratios:

Equivalent ratios are ratios that name the same comparisons.

Rate:

The numbers of measurements being compared are called the terms of the ratio. A rate is special ratio in which the two terms are different units.

Unit Rate:

Is a ratio that compares two quantities in two different units

Unit Cost:

? ask mr. Bliss....

Cross Product:

Cross products are two equal products obtained by multiplying the second term of each ratio by the first term of the other ratio in a proportion.
