sacrament
A visible sign or ceremony given to us by Christ in order to give us sanctifying grace. There are 7 in the Church: Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Eucharist, Penance, Anointing, Holy Orders & Matrimony.
sacramental grace
The supernatural help we receive from God through the sacraments. Each sacrament gives its own kind of help. For example, Holy Orders helps a priest to preach and offer worship with a pure heart, while Matrimony helps a man and woman to love each other and be good parents.
sacred mysteries
An ancient title for the Holy Eucharist and the Mass.
sign
A symbol that is meant to bring a message to those who see it. It can be visible (like a stop light) or verbal (words). The sacraments are seven SACRED ones for they bring us special messages from Christ.
