In a dream, God asked Solomon what he would choose, if he could have anything he wanted. Solomon chose wisdom.

Where was Daniel from and why was he chosen to serve the Babylonian king?

Jerusalem. He and his friends were recognized to be excellent young men with strong character and wisdom. They had strong physical health, no blemishes, and were well-spoken and educated.

Why did Daniel and his friends not eat what the king offered and why is that important? What does it teach us?

They didn't eat the food from the king because it was offered to idols. They wanted to stay away from anything that would cause them to be defiled in God's eyes. This teaches us that God will take care of us and honor our obedience if we follow his commandments.
