600.05 Fire Investigation Response

C. It is the policy of LVFR that the following categories of incidents be investigated and/or documented by members of the Bureau of Fire Investigations-Bomb Squad:

1) Fires/Explosions >$50K IN LOSS
2) Fires/Explosions that result in INJURY REQ. TRANSOPRT, or DEATH of a human being.
3) ARSON is suspected, regardless of the amount of property damage.
4) any CLV PROPERTY.

2) WITNESS?
3) Evidentiary considerations
4) VICTIM PRESENT on scene? requesting an investigator?
5) Does the location have a known or serial arson problem?

D. Fires/explosions that do not meet the above criteria may be investigated and documented by company officers, utilizing the Sun Pro, provided that the _____, ______, and the _____ can be readily determined and thoroughly articulated.

E. The United States Supreme Court has ruled that a fire investigation must be a continuation of the Fire Department’s initial emergency response to that fire, and that the fire scene must have been under the control of the fire department continuously since that initial response

When Investigators are assigned to a hazardous device response, and a fire investigation response is requested, fire and/or police personnel will be required to MAINTAIN CUSTODY of the fire scene until Investigators are available.
