How are monoclonal antibodies produced? |

How can monoclonal antibodies be used against cancer cells? |
Cancer cells have specific antigens on their surface that monoclonal antibodies can recognize and bond to, these antibodies can have drugs to combat cancer attached to them, as they are attached to the antibodies that will bond to the tumor the drug accumulates in the area around the tumor |

How can monoclonal antibodies be used in pregnancy tests? |
During pregnancy the mother produces the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), the pregnancy tests have antibodies that are complementary to hCG, the antibodies have enzymes that can trigger a colour change attached to them and get carried up the pregnancy test. The test then contains antibodies secured to the test which bind to the hCG stopping it from continuing to move up, the strip then changes colour due to the antibody that bonded to the hCG with a colour changing enzyme |
