Accuracy
How close a measured value is to the actual (true) value
Acute
The small angle, which is less than 90 degrees.
Chance
Relates to probability: There is a one out of five _______ of getting a blue tile out of the bag.
Common Fractions
A fraction where both the numerator and the denominator are integers. EX: 1/3 or 1/4; Not 1.4/5
Composite
A number that can be divided evenly by numbers other than 1 or itself.
Computation
Finding an answer by using mathematics.
Convert
To change something into another form.
Coordinate System
A system that uses coordinates to establish a position. EX: (4, 3)
Diameter
A straight line going through the center of a circle connecting two points on the circumference.
Equation
An equation says that two things are the same, using mathematical symbols.

An equal sign (=) is used

Example: 7+2 = 10-1
Expression
Numbers, symbols and operators (such as + and ×) grouped together that show the value of something.

Example 2×3 is an expression
Face of a Polyhedron
Any of the individual surfaces of a solid object.
Function Table
Lists of possible values of a variable and the function's result.
Improper Fraction
A fraction where the numerator (the top number) is greater than or equal to the denominator (the bottom number). In other words, it is top-heavy.

Example: 5/3 (five thirds) and 9/8 (nine eighths) are improper fractions
Inverse Operation
The operation that reverses the effect of another operation.
Mean
The average of the numbers: a calculated "central" value of a set of numbers.

It is easy to calculate: Just add up all the numbers, then divide by how many numbers there are.
Median
The middle number (in a sorted list of numbers).
Mode
The number which appears most often in a set of numbers.
Mixed Number
A whole number and a fraction combined into one.
Example: 1½ (one and a half)
Obtuse
An angle that is more than 90° but less than 180°
Ordered Pairs
Two numbers written in a certain order.
Usually written in parentheses like this: (4,5)
Pattern Rules
Things that are arranged following a rule or rules.
Prime
A number that can be divided evenly only by 1 or itself.
And it must be greater than 1.
Probability
The chance that something will happen - how likely it is that some event will happen.
Proper Fraction
A proper fraction is a fraction where the numerator (the top number) is less than the denominator (the bottom number).
Quadrant
Any of the 4 equal areas made by dividing a plane by an x and y axis.
Radius
The distance from the center to the edge of a circle.

It is half of the circle's diameter.
Pi
Equal to 3.14159265358979323846
Range
The difference between the lowest and highest values.
Relationship
It relates to other math problems like a fact family.
5+2=7
2+5=7
7-5=2
7-2=5
Remainder
The amount left over after division (this happens if one number can't be divided exactly by the other)
Right
An angle which is equal to 90°
Scale
The ratio of the length in a drawing (or model) to the length of the real thing.

Example: in the drawing anything with the size of "1" would have a size of "10" in the real world.
Square Unit
Used in measuring area, the area of a figure tells you the amount of squares it would take to cover the figure completely.
Stem and Leaf Plot
A plot where each data value is split into a "leaf" (usually the last digit) and a "stem" (the other digits).

For example "32" would be split into "3" (stem) and "2" (leaf).
Tesselation
A pattern made of identical shapes:
* the shapes must fit together without any gaps
* the shapes should not overlap
Vertex
A point where two or more straight lines meet. Corner.
