to decrease risk of ovarian and endometrial cancers
prevent unscheduled bleeding inhibit follicular development decrease blood loss during periods improve acne improve pain from dysmenorrhea due to endometriosis |

o Known thrombophilia o Prior thromboembolic event o Cerebrovascualr or coronary artery disease (even if remote hx) o Uncontrolled htn o Migraines with aura o Diabetes with PAD o Estrogen dependent tumors o Breast cancer o Liver failure o Undx’d abnormal uterine bleeds o Liver tumors o Pregnancy |
so the big ones are DVTs and other clots
uncontrolled htn- OCPs often make htn worse |
