Fleet Multi-channel Broadcast system

Primary means of delivering message traffic to the fleet.

MULCAST System

Highly flexible system providing global broadcast service to the fleet via 4 major comms areas.

A max of 16 channels of info are combined to form the Multi-channel broadcast

TACAMO

Survivable comms link during trans-attack and post attack phases of conflict.

Enables POTUS & SECDEF to directly contact subs, bombers, and missile platforms.

Nature of USW patrol

Aircraft ops requires dedicated transmission of all ground to air traffic using the broadcast method.

UHF DAMA subsys

Developed to allow multiple baseband subsystems or users to simultaneously use a single 25 or 5 kHz SAT channel

SHF SATCOM

System that provides worldwide coverage with high capacity, anti-jam, real time command and control comms links w/ full-duplex capabilities.

Via SHF satellites, b/w mobile units and DSCS Sites

EHF

Provides the services w/ interoperable and survivable SATCOM

UHF

FLTSAT & LEASAT for worldwide communication connectivity w/ all naval ships & subs, certain land&air platforms, & shore sites.

NTP 2, CIB/CIA

apt to provide the best current info on the latest procedures for communicating in this dynamic environment.

COMSEC

Measure and controls taken to deny unauthorized person(s) information derived from telecomms and ensure authenticity of such telecomms

Access and visitors Control

Maintain a master list of individuals having routine access to classified comms spaces.

Should show: Name, Rank, lvl of clearance & access authorized w/ thier specific function/spaces

BEADWINDOW

Real time procedure which brings to the immediate attention of circuit operators the fact that an EEFI (Essential Elements of Friendly Information) disclosure has or may have occured

Emergency Destruction Plan

Outline procedures to reduce the amount of classified material held and realign storage so that should emegency destruction be required it can be done quick.

3 Methods of of operating Circuits

Simplex, duplex, & semi-duplex

Semi-Duplex

Circuits are a combo of simplex & duplex.

All stations except NECOS transmit and receive on the same f.

Duplex

A circuit designed tobtransmit and receive simultaneously

Ea. station xmits on a diff f and both stations transmit concurrently

Full Period Termination

Dedicated circuits that provide comms b/w commanders afloat and ashore

Requires allocation of limited NCTAMS/NAVCOMTELSTA assets

Primary Ship/Shore circuits

Encrypted, Frequency Shift Keying(FSK)/ Phase Shift Keying(PSK) PC nets which permit afloat units to transmit record comms for delivery ashore.

Service Messages

Short & concise msgs b/w comm personnel.

Have the force of of official comms and eill be accorded prompt attention.

Comms Officer

May delegate release authority for service msgs down to the comms watch supervisor.

Operating signals

"Q & Z" signals, found in ACP 131 & its supplement.

Provide concise UNCLAS code designed for use bt comms personnel to exchange info related to establishing comms or msg handling

When an originating or relay station detects an error in a transmission, that station must send a correction by using:

Concise service or else ZDG/ZEL procedures.

Broadcast Screen Request (BRS)

PROFORMA msg designed for flt broadcast subscribers to request the rerun(ZDK) of msgs missed or recieved garbled on any flt broadcast

NETWARCOM

Naval Network Warfare Command

Naval Network Warfare Command

Navy's central operational authority for C4I, space, & Info Ops

C4I

Command, Control, Comms, Computets, & Intell

NCTAMS

Naval Computer & Telecomms Area Master Stations
