John Locke promoted the idea that people are sovereign. Montesquieu believed in seperation of powers. Voltaire believed in seperation of Church and State and the right to speak. These three thinkers helped inspire the American Revolution and America's documents. Without them, America's laws, rights, and guideline might have been significantly different.
