An EPZ Is an area that has the same Potential. After the poll band and grounds have been applied and EPZ zone is established. The epz is the area on the Pole above the Pole band Including the conductors or equipment connected to the poll band to be worked on. In addition, though work space extends to the top of the Pole. However the work space does not extend inside the minimum approach distance of energize or DE energize circuits not connected to the poll ban. In cases where the workers have installed to pull bands the EPZ workspace will be the area on the Pole between the 2 pole bands

If the pool is in doubt. Boring shall be drill 90゚ apart with a 9/16 bit. The 1st Boer shall be 12" below grade and the 2nd shall be at ground line. Drill downward at a 45° Angle and extend past the center line of the poll But not near then 2" of the opposite side.


The inspection boring shall be adjacent to the largest check or other area indicating internal decay. When the poll is set in pavement the above test shall be Conducted by drilling the 1st hole at ground level, 12" above Ground level for the 2nd boring and 90° apart.


Boring holes shall be ploude with a 5/8" inch bit.

Perform a tailboard, verify integrity and depth of Pole, ascend pole using proper climbing techniques, drill a hole using proper tools and equipment used 11 16th inch drill bit for 5 eights whole , make horizontal cuts in pole for gain using framing saw. Cuts shall be between 5 eights and 7 eights inches in depth and should have approximately half inch wider with then the cross arm to assure proper fit. Remove material to create stable mounting surface using proper framing chisel and hammer. Perform QC check of gain ( hole centered in gain surface perpendicular to Pole, gain is square with Pole and has proper depth).
