What is the margin of safety?
The difference between the toxic dose and the effective dose.
How are Phase I and Phase II products excreted?
Phase I products that can be excreted do so through the kindney; Phase II products are excreted through the GI tract via the bile duct (more common pathway for lipid soluble chemicals).
Why can grapefruit juice contribute to a toxic effect with some drugs?
Grapefruit juice inhibits CYP3A4 creating a lower first pass effect and a greater concentation of a drug metabolized by this pathway.
