1. The North's strategy was called this because it would cut off their supplies, and squeeze the south out. Just like the anaconda squeezes its prey to death. 2. The union would blockade the southern ports. Second the North would gain control of the entire Mississippi River. Thirdly they would capture Richmond, Virginia, the confederate capitol. |

This battle took place in northern Virginia about 5 miles from the town of Manassas Junction near a small river call Bull Run. 4. The South won this battle. 5. This would be a long and costly struggle. |
