11th amendment, was passed by the Congress on March 4, 1794, and ratified by the states on February 7, 1795, deals with each state's sovereign immunity and was adopted in order to overrule the U.S. Supreme Court's decision

12th amendment, provides the procedure for electing the President and Vice President. It provided the original procedure by which the Electoral College functioned.

13th amendment,abolished slavery in the United States and provides that "Neither slavery or servitude, except as a punishment for crime then the person shall have been convicted, it will exist within the United states.

14th amendment was adopted on July 9, 1868, as one of the Reconstruction amendments. The amendments addresses citizenship rights and equal protection of the laws, and was proposed in response to issues related to former slaves following the American Civil War.

15th amendment , prohibits the federal and state governments from denying a citizen the right to vote based on that citizen's race or color.

16th amendment gives Congress the power to collect taxes on income without apportioning it among the states. The sixteenth amendment was passed in 1909.

17th amendment ratified in 1913, providing for the election of two U.S. senators from each state by popular vote and for a term of six years

18th amendment, the prohibition of alcoholic beverages in the United States by declaring illegal the production, transport, and sale of alcohol though not the consumption or private possession.

19th amendment


Passed by Congress June 4, 1919. Ratified August 18, 1920. The right to citizens of the United States to vote. shall not be denied or by the United States or by any State on account of sex. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

20th amendment


The terms of the President and Vice President shall end at noon on the 20th day of January, and the terms of Senators and Representatives at noon on the 3d day of January, of the years in which such terms would have ended if this article had not been made and the terms of their successors shall then begin.

21st amendment


the United States Constitution repealed the Eighteenth amendment to the United States Constitution, which had mandated nationwide Prohibition on alcohol on January 17, 1920. The twenty first amendment was ratified on December 5, 1933.

22nd amendment, ensures that no person can be elected to more than two four-year terms as President of the United States. was made in 1951, was passed in after President Franklin D. Roosevelt's four terms in office

23rd amendment, extends the right to vote in the presidential election to citizens residing in the District of Columbia by granting the District electors in the Electoral College, as if it were a state.

24th amendment, citizens in some states had to pay a fee to vote in a national election. This fee was called a poll tax. On January 23, 1964, the United States made the 24th amendment to the Constitution, prohibiting any poll tax in elections for federal officials.

25th amendment, deals with succession to the Presidency and establishes procedures both for filling a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, as well as responding to Presidential disabilities.

26th amendment, The right of citizens of the United States, who are 18 years of age or older, to vote, shall not be denied by the United States or any state because of age. The Congress shall have the power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

27th amendment, No law or compensation for the services of Senators and Representatives, shall take effect, until an election of Representatives shall have intervened.
