If no threat to subject-
Remove all other persons Your objective is to gain voluntary compliance Establish a calm direct non confrontational dialog, limit eye contact, have them sit down if possible emply family member to communicate if a calming rapport can be established Ask simple questions to help determine coherence Their mind is racing- might need to ask question mulitple times Again-be patient and use only one person to communicate (whoever builds the best rapport) |

|
Trooper shall employ as much force responsible and necessary to protect themselves and others to take the subject into custody
Should employ several officers at once to limit the struggle and minimize the intensity and duration |
|

Excited Delirium-once in custody and scene is safe
|
Immediately employ EMS, monitor breathing and transport to medical facility
|
