What is the most important 7 mandatory habits in solving math problems?
1. Read & understand the problem and instructions carefully.
2. Focused attention to details!
3. Write down any equations or formulas that may apply to the problem:
standard memorized,
text book lesson equations or,
deduced from the problem statement.
4. Draw a picture & play with it until it correctly represents the problem and/or the equations.
5. BE NEAT WITH ENOUGH SPACE AND spread out COLUMNS IN-LINE. Dark main calculation numbers. Addition carries directly above column so not confused as an additional 10 digit.
6. Check your work (is much easier with neatness); check your work with estimates & quick rounding.
7. Label your answer & point to it with an arrow.
