Acronyms |

Acrostics |
An acrostic is a poem or sentence where the first letter in each line or word forms the item to be remembered. For example, the planet 'rhyme' is an acrostic. |

Rhymes |
Groups of words with identity or rhythm. For example, using the 'twinkle twinkle' tune helps children to remember the alphabet. |

Chunking |
Changing a long string of numbers or letters into 'chunks' to make the information easier to remember. |

Loci |
'Loci' is Greek for 'places' and is a basic method for visual mnemonics. The learner associates parts of the material to be related to different places of a location. |

The Keyword Method |
Atkinson and Raugh (1975) Used for associating two pieces of information. For instance, it could be an image which links to a word in two languages. |

Spider Diagrams and Mind Maps |
Causing a visual image should aid the triggering or recall of the information. These techniques use visual imagery to remember paths between information and facts. |
