These people think that if more food is produced, then the suffering people around the world will be fed, but this is just not the case. In fact, there is more than enough food for the population today. There is one and a half the needed amount of food being produced to feed the whole planet. Splitting up the food evenly, each human on the earth could consume 3,500 calories, not including fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, fish, root crops, and meat from grass-fed animals. (Jordan) It is clear that the the amount of food is not the problem. The problem is in the lack of opportunities given to those with small amounts of money such as the homeless and people in third world countries. Despite the alarming statistic that 12% of the world suffers from chronic hunger, there is hope to greatly decrease the problem (Poverty). Hunger can be greatly reduced first by informing the the citizens of more fortunate countries about the problems happening around them. The devastating facts need to by known globally so action can be taken to fix the issues. To directly get the nutrients to the people that need it, aid and direction needs to be given to the poor countries in a time of war to help fortify stable government and order. Hunger reaches over a tenth of all people and is one of the largest problems the world faces. Despite the enormity of the issue, hunger can be slowly destroyed by equipping the individuals with the information and tools needed to feed themselves each and every day. To make a difference, the public needs to be informed about hunger, help needs to be given to develop third world countries, and governments need to be established to care for their own people.
